Online Auction Frequently Asked Questions

What is an online auction?

Online auctions with Mayo Auction and Realty are not like auctions on eBay. They are authentic online bidding experiences where the auction doesn't end when active bidding is taking place in the final minutes of the auction. This allows you to truly bid your price on real estate as well as items in estate sales, business liquidations and consignment auctions.

When you bid in a Mayo online auction, you are able to physically inspect the auction items during a scheduled preview time. If you are located outside of the area where the online auction is being conducted, you can bid with confidence by previewing the detailed item descriptions, photos and video in the online auction catalog. In some instances, shipping can be provided on your online auction purchases.

How do I register for an online auction?

Where can I find the terms and conditions for an auction?

Terms and Conditions are located both on the main auction event page and on individual auction catalogs.

How does an online auction end?

An online auction only ends when bidding has stopped. Each online auction will specify the amount of time that must pass before an auction is considered closed. Our online auctions allow time extensions on individual lots if bidding is still active ("staggered closings") and some online auctions will have all lots within the entire auction go in to extended bidding if any of the auction's lots are still being bid on. You will be able to see within the terms and conditions of each online auction which method is being used.

How do I know if I've won an online auction or online auction item?

If you won an item at online auction, you will receive an invoice via email when you are the winning bidder.

How do I pay for my items?

Payment terms are specified in the online auctions terms and conditions.
